I just learned about The Cleaners today (side effects of Priest and Hunter class quest chains), and also just learned today that they were removed with Cataclysm.
I understand streamlining and such, but I don’t get why class quest chains were removed. My druid was about halfway through the epic Druid chain when it was removed, and my lock never had a chance to do the dreadsteed chain.
Just because The Cleaners could be kited to Ironforge, Undercity, or Orgrimmar where they would release their rage and kill everything in sight is no reason to remove them!

After I read about the Cleaners, I logged in to my main only to find Cuergo’s Treasure Map is now grey. I also had a Waterlogged Ship Schedule that was grey…but required level 40.
